In a hot-and-cold conflict that has now lasted over 25 years, active combat operations between Azerbaijan and Armenia started again on April 2, 2016. After five days of heavy fighting, the Azerbaijan side claimed small territorial gains – the strategically important height Lalatapa in Jabrayil region of Azerbaijan. As a result the Azerbajani side gained 2,000 hectares.
These gains came at great personal loss. According to the Caspian Defense Studies Institute, a Germany-based organization that monitors mainstream and social media, the Azerbaijani side lost 94 soldiers.
One of these soldiers was Adil Adilzadeh.
